Democracy Wins at Confluence

uIf you walked through any of Confluence’s three campuses recently, you saw posters encouraging everyone to vote on November 4th. You also saw student opinion poll results, student-produced posters for the candidate of their choice or student statements explaining why everyone should exercise their right to vote. Many grade-levels have held class president elections since school began, giving them opportunities to place themselves in the role of a candidate or a voting citizen. As informed citizens, our students joined with more than 30 school districts, over 393 schools and 216,000 peers across Missouri as part of the Kids Voting program.

Kids Voting USA® is a national non-profit, nonpartisan program in which students in grades K-12 go to the polls with their peers on Election Day and cast Kids Voting ballots for the same candidates and issues as adult voters. In the weeks leading up to the election, our students studied grade-specific lessons on democracy and the electoral process and learned to "register" to vote.

On November 4th, our students practiced their civic right and responsibility by voting for local, state and federal candidates, as well as issues affecting their communities.
